Gameplay

DO Reborn fully replicates Warhammer: Dark Omen real-time tactics game where player takes role of Morgan Bernhardt, baddest mercenary army Commander of the Old World.

At the beginning, player's mercenary army - "the Grudgebringers" consists of just several units. Among them: infantry, crossbowmen, cannon and cavalry. As the game progresses player gets possibility to hire new units. The Grudgebringer cavalry unit is led by Morgan himself and if completely destroyed in battle ends the game. Other units death does not end the game but is highly undesirable since game difficulty grows with each mission and a unit once lost can't be easily replaced.

Each mission has a battlefield (level) where player army clashes with enemy AI army. At the start of each battle player has to choose up to 10 units from his army roster. When battle commences player's goal is to outmaneuver and eliminate enemy by issuing direct orders to his units which is usually outnumbered. Some missions may have secondary objectives such as intercept hostiles or protect civilians. Failed mission objectives do not end game and allow player to continue with his playthrough but affect game difficulty level and its storyline dialogs.

Upon mission completion(or failure) survived units receive experience based on number of killed enemy troops + fixed value for participating in battle. Unit increases its troops characteristics upon accumulating of specific experience level which make troops tougher fighters. Player army also receive gold and looted magic items. Gold can be used to replenish units casualties and upgrade troops armor. Player my equip unit with magic items which endue it with various offensive and defensive capabilities. It is important to mention that if all troops in unit where killed then it is completely destroyed and can't be replenished after battle. To avoid heavy casulaties and units permanent death player has to carefully choose tactics, exploit battlefield advantages and utilize units abilities.

Between missions player is provided with narrative via characters dialog and is allowed to choose decisions which slightly affect campaign difficulty and missions sequence.
